If you’ve spent any time on this site, you know I care about neighborhoods—the people, the corners, the stories. Part of caring about a community is being upfront about how things work, including what happens with the information you share here. This page is my attempt to be as clear as possible about that.
I’m Ananya, and I run GrandviewDigFest. I don’t have a legal team, and this isn’t one of those 40-page documents written by lawyers. It’s a plain-language explanation of what I collect, why I collect it, and what I do with it.
What This Site Is
GrandviewDigFest is a hyperlocal guide covering neighborhood profiles, home-living tips, local events, and community happenings. The annual Dig Fest remains a big part of what I do, but the site itself runs year-round as a resource for anyone looking to explore, move, or simply get to know a neighborhood better.
Information I Collect
Honestly, I try to collect as little as possible. Here’s what I do gather:
- Email addresses — if you sign up for the newsletter or register for festival updates.
- Name (optional) — if you fill out a contact form or submit a neighborhood story.
- Comments or messages — anything you write to me through the site.
- Basic analytics data — pages visited, approximate location (city level), device type. This is aggregated and doesn’t identify you personally.
I don’t collect payment information. I don’t ask for your address. I don’t want your phone number unless there’s a specific reason you want to share it with me, like coordinating a neighborhood walk.
How I Use Your Information
When I do collect something, it’s for one of these reasons:
- To send newsletters or event updates you’ve asked for.
- To respond to a question, comment, or story submission.
- To understand which neighborhoods and topics people are most curious about, so I can create more useful content.
- To improve how the site works technically.
That’s it. I don’t sell your data. I don’t share it with advertisers. I don’t add you to lists you didn’t sign up for.
Cookies
This site uses basic cookies for functionality and to understand general usage patterns. For example, a cookie might remember your display preferences or help me see whether most people reading a neighborhood guide are on mobile or desktop. None of this identifies you personally.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings if you prefer. The site will still work—you might just have a slightly less personalized experience.
Third-Party Services
I rely on a few trusted services to keep the site running smoothly:
- Email service provider — handles newsletter delivery. They process your email address when I send updates.
- Analytics platform — shows me general traffic patterns and popular pages.
- Hosting provider — stores the site files and basic server logs.
If you submit a real estate inquiry through a partner listing, that information goes to the respective agent or agency. I recommend reviewing their privacy policies as well, since they operate independently.
How Long I Keep Information
I don’t hoard data. Newsletter lists and email correspondence are kept as long as they’re active. If you unsubscribe, you’re removed. If you ask me to delete a message or comment, I will.
Your Choices
At any time, you can:
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email.
- Request that I delete your comments or messages.
- Ask me what information I have about you.
- Request a copy of any data you’ve shared.
Just send me an email using the contact information below. I’ll respond within a reasonable time—usually a few days.
Children’s Privacy
This site is for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you’re a parent or guardian and believe your child has shared something with me, let me know and I’ll remove it.
Changes to This Policy
If I change how I handle information, I’ll update this page and note the date at the top. If a change is significant, I’ll mention it in the newsletter so people are aware.
Questions or Concerns
If anything here is unclear, or if you have a question about your data, reach out. I’d rather have a conversation than leave you wondering.
